Unless it's some known issue with the model you have, it really shouldn't be doing anything funky. Pellet grills in general are known to be more stable than your kitchen oven. Have you tried contacting them? Maybe do the warranty thing. |

Unless it's some known issue with the model you have, it really shouldn't be doing anything funky. Pellet grills in general are known to be more stable than your kitchen oven. Have you tried contacting them? Maybe do the warranty thing. They've sent me a new one. The last two times I had a problem, I called them. First time the guy said to vacuum out the fire box before each use. Second time a different guy said to reach in and stir the pellets about every hour or so. I asked them why this info wasn't in the book. They hem-hawed a bit and finally said it should be. Mine is the Tailgater, one of Traeger's small ones. Apparently, due to smaller openings and smaller augers, they can get 'bridged' easier. This causes the fire to die down, the auger to speed up, and when the 'bridge' clears, the remaining fire, if any, gets smothered by a pot full of pellets. Might should have bought a bigger one, but for just the two of us, I couldn't see it. Now I know better. |
