I'm just glad they didn't hit each other.

Lack of piloting, seamanship and small and large boat handling, the
trademark of the U.S. Navy.

Trolling again, Harry?

Of course you are.

How many collision accidents has the navy had so far this year,
several resulting in multiple deaths? Six, eight? Bad training.

Lack of training of piloting, seamanship and large boat handling ... yes
.. in these incidents.Â* "Trademark of the U.S. Navy?

Hardly.

How many U.S. Navy ships do you think are underway simultaneously?
Far more than you probably realize.Â* For example, last month
seven of our 11 carrier battle groups were underway, each of which
consists of many ships in addition to the carrier.Â* There are also
many smaller ships conducting independent patrols.Â* Collisions are
always a risk, especially when operating in close proximity to other
ships but the collision that have occurred are hardly a "trademark" of
the Navy.

The collisions have underscored a lack of funding to re-instate the
level of training provided in the past.Â* It is being corrected.

More likely the navy is wasting money on new ships no one needs rather
than properly train sailors

They call that a jobs program. Everyone of those ships represents
thousands of high paying union jobs, scattered across the country.
They may be assembled in Mississippi or Alabama but various parts come
a hundred or more congressional districts. That is how defense
contracts work.
I would be just as happy if they were building more roads and bridges
but the localities who can afford them already are and the ones who
can't still won't be able to, even with massive infusions of federal
dollars. They will just divert the money to losing propositions like
trains nobody is willing to pay for and the bridges will be left to
rust out more.

BFD...it wastes trillions of dollars on toys no one needs. That money
could better be used improving the lives of people here and, when they
need it, abroad.

Those union ship builders will be very upset.
