Its nice to have a 28k Katolite 110/220 single phase gen that drives from a tractor PTO. I don't have a tractor big enough to pull it but my next door neighbor does. His 4440 John Deere is also set with a hi/low PTO. You set it in high range and then you can idle the engine down for fuel savings.

Right before bad weather hits, it's dug out, hooked up to make sure it works correctly, then stored it till its needed. Both our houses are set for external power. Fortunately we haven't needed it...yet.

I did notice some of my equipment here was not really running
quite right. The UPS units were alarming occasionally, one fridge
froze up and my garage door opener was flakey. It needed help opening

extension cord).

Have you tried scoping the waveform? There might be a surprise hidden
in there which could explain what you're seeing.

I always lusted after those portable Tektronix units that you CEs used
to lug around.

I bought one of those (or similar) on eBay when I had the guitar shop
and occasionally worked on guitar amps. It still worked great although
it probably was out of calibration. Dual probes too. I lent it to a
guy who was doing some troubleshooting and that's the last I ever saw of
it. Can't even locate him anymore.

I loaned mine to a buddy about 15 years ago. He still has it. Have not
needed it.

I have a spare 453 in the shop. Is it worth driving to Estero for you?
I will use that one to check the genset to be sure it is working.

===

Absolutely. Are you thinking in terms of a sale or a loan?

Gift. Let me be sure it is working OK tho.

I get a kick out of the tire to the left in the image. Never saw a tire
selectively lose it's tread like that. Maybe it was a "recap" at on time.

Agreed but I got it at a farm auction a few years ago, supposedly it didnn't work. I cleaned up some corroded wire connections and polished the commutator rings, and there we go. Sure it's overkill but for $350 bucks?

I'm trying to envision how you'd mount that. The torque load has got
to be substantial. My stbd 6-71 has a spare PTO port but clearance,
not so much.
