Default Good Resource for STAR Racers

Can someone point me to a good resource on Star racers? I would like to
purchase one. However there are so many out there of differing vintages. I
do not want to simply assume newer is better.

TIA

One source for information Star boat websites. do a google search.
another source would be Winthrop Marine,1 Belle Isle Rd. in Winthrop,
Mass. They have a website. I don't know the URL. the co-owners are
former class winners.

The lion may lie with the lamb, but the lamb won't get much sleep, and
the race may not go to the swift, but that's the way to bet.

The Star is a technology class, among other things. All else equal,
newer is almost certainly better. Your best resource would be your
nearest fleet. I would expect them to tell you if they are competitive
on a national or world level, or are more club racers. Both exist. And
they would probably tell you after that what you might need to sail at
their level.

I assume you are looking for club racing, from the way you asked.

I read a few years ago about a new fleet in Santa Barbara, CA that
required sail numbers less than 10,000. This was to allow a
competitive fleet without the expense of the latest stuff. Maybe other
fleets do the same.
