The last time I weighed close to what that chart says I should weigh was
shortly after Mrs.E and I got married. (Don't laugh now):

Okay, who is the babe with the goofy looking guy?

later ... disco era ... I am sure the stupid pants I was wearing were

Nope. Originally from East Boston ... little Italy .. but moved to the
south shore of MA. I met her in the 6th grade. I moved away to another
town and then to CT. Returned to MA halfway through my senior year and
met up with her again and started dating.

BTW ... the little guy I am holding now owns a liquor store in South
Carolina. That's where Mrs.E is visiting now, visiting him and his
family. He has four kids, a 17 year old daughter, a 14 year old
daughter and 5 year old twins .. one girl and one boy. Glad he's doing
well. College and marriages are going to cost him. :-)

What's the ceremony with the Navy guys?

That was my grandson's graduation from USCG boot camp. He's saluting
his Dad (my son-in-law). It's kinda a cool tradition ... if your father
or another family member is a Veteran, they invite the vet to return the
salute. My son-in-law was Navy.

Very cool tradition. Don't think the Army has anything like it...that I've heard of anyway.

Grandpa can help. A couple years ago I started Virginia 529 programs for the two families kids. Once
over age 70, there is no limit on the amount of the contribution and it's tax deductible (state
tax). With a tax rate of about 6%, that's not bad given that CDs are getting about 1.5% now.

Yeah, we did something similar except we aren't over 70 yet. I forget
the details but it's some kind of trust or something to help with the
grandkids education.

In Virginia the max deductible contribution is $4k if under 70. Your state may be different. I am
putting the money into the 'invest' program which invests into mutual funds...Vanguard controlled.
So far they've done very well.

I am not smart enough in finances to deal with that stuff. We asked our
accountant to figure something out. I don't even know how it works.

This 529 thing is nice because I can make a contribution and then give them the receipt as a
Christmas gift. As owner, I retain control of how the money gets spent. One grandson started
Virginia Tech this year, so it's come in handy already.
