He lasted way longer than I thought he would have.

That's for sure. Controversial, but had a major impact on American
music and other musicians.

I was privileged to see Chuck Berry perform in 1963 at The Stables, a
huge barn in Lawrence, Kansas, that had been converted to a rock'n'roll
dance and beer joint. He was terrific with his local pick-up band, all
of whom were familiar with his music. The Stables, which I'll bet is
long gone, was famous for several years running of being the venue that
served more Coors Beer than any other beer bar. I didn't like Coors.
Kansas was where I "discovered" Mexican beers, which I did like. I think
the second most popular beer out there back then was a brew from Texas,
maybe Lone Star? The most popular radio station back then at night was
XERF, a Mexican station that featured WolfMan Jack. You could only get
the station at night. There was another station out of Chicago that was
popular, but I don't recall its call letters.

WLS...in Chicago!

That much of your story is believable. Let's see, you've dined will all the presidents for the past
40 years, and now you're going to add musicians also?

You are the man, Harry. How's that rotator cuff doing? Back-patting has to be killing it.

WLS is/was one of the 5 or 6 50KW "clear channel" AM stations in the
US and you can get it on the east coast on a clear night.
We used to listen to it in DC all the time. A good car radio will get
it but if you have an old "all american" 5 bottle radio and a decent
long wire antenna it will come in 5x5.

No, it's his neck that hurts from having his head up his own ass all the time.

Here's a chance to own some memorabilia and get a tax break, too:

There are also two from B.B. King on that site.
