I buy the equivalent of 100 bags a year to recover our planting beds. Unless you are covering your entire lot, leaving no room for grass, you aren't spreading 12 cubic yards or anything close to it." Is The John lying again? Seems like he just can't help himself. Big quantities, are bulk purchase, and a big dump truck delivers. If you bought it in 2-3 cubic foot bags, you will be paying way too much. |

The line should have read, "You are mistaken, I am a Mexican on the way to my second job." But, after all, it was a joke. I had a Mexican over yesterday to do some yard work. His helper failed to show. So he and I spread about 12 cubic yards of mulch. He busted my ass, but gave me $100 for helping, which meant I owed him only $250. Did a great job. Will definitely have Carlos back again. That is a ****load of mulch! |

You can make as much money on welfare as you can make working unless you have a pretty good job and "pretty good jobs" are going away. |

The only Mexicans we see at home depot are there buying materials for a job they are working on. We see those also. But our city allows the day labor to congregate there. And no riots have ensued. It is just something we do not see here. I am not sure where people get their day labor but it is not from people hanging out at the BORG. We just know guys we can call but I think for most folks, they grab the hefe from their landscape crew and he hooks them up. I know that is how my neighbors do it. Once you get a phone number or two and a good reputation with those guys, if they can't help you, they have a cousin or neighbor who can. That goes from simple grunt labor to masons, roofers and drywall guys. The plasterer we got to stucco the inside walls of the new room made it look like skim coated drywall. |

When we did mulch in the (community assn) park we brought in an 18 wheeler with the "pooper" that just pushes the mulch out the back of a 40 foot trailer. It was around 100 yards. It disappeared faster than you would think. We did 2 play areas and mulched around the trees. |

We had access to a machine so bags would just slow us down. |

Well, let's see...45 bags at 3 cu ft/ bag is 135 cu ft divided by 27cu ft/cu yd is 5 cu yds. Add to that 6 cu yds dumped by truck on the driveway is ... 11 cubic yards. You're right, I was way off. Hell, you could even accuse me of lying! Go for it. I don't buy mulch by the pickup load. I have it delivered by these guys: http://mulchandstone.com/mulches/dou...ood-mulch.html I use the pickup when Meadows Farms has their 5 bags for $15 sale. The pickup will hold 30 bags, if I use the back seat. You should buy your mulch in bulk. It's much cheaper! Now, don't you feel like an ass? |

This year we've got a bigger 'bed'. |
