Heh, 72 isn't too old. There are a lot of interesting deals on EBAY
also. I almost bid on a Bertram 35 the other day that had relatively new Cummins turbo diesels in it. Coukd have won the bid for somewhere less than $14,000. The engines alone were worth more than that. Sort of sorry I let it go but it would have added another unneeded complexity. ..... Man that would have been a good deal if the boat was any count at all. Is the boat market soft right now? |

I think part of the issue is the durability of fiberglass boats. If maintained even half way decently, they just seem to last forever. The systems start to go however, and it can cost a fortune to start replacing and upgrading - all of which is done at new boat pricing. |

Restoring anything usually costs way over a budget. And when you try to sell it you're lucky to get half your investment...if that! |

Restoring something that is unique and rare and sought after can provide substantial returns on investment. An old fiberglass boat rarely falls into that category. |

That is true but at that point we are talking about a piece of art, not a boat you use regularly. I know a guy in Tampa who does cars. There is well over 3 megabucks in this barn http://gfretwell.com/ftp/Bobs%20barn.jpg |
