Missus and I logged 180 miles Sunday afternoon. Man was it hot. But she loved the ride and was impressed at how smooth and quiet this macbine is. It's no speed demon even though Honda boasts of 81 hp from the 1100cc engine, but the beast also weighs about 750 lb dry too. Anyhow I had it up to 80 which warrented a tough in the ribs. So..., Oh this bike has some quirks but it's 33 years old too. Nothing that can't be reasonably handled though. After work I'm planning on goofing off maybe another hundred miles tonight. I love it! You go, guy! Nothing like a nice evening ride out there in the country. Here it seems to take 45 minutes to get to a decent riding area. Better post a picture or two. You're probably making Harry feel badly. I havent' heard about any of his 'Ducati' escapades lately. How's the seat on that thing? Comfortable? I'm not a fan of the seat, John. the manufacturers give you their idea of what comfort is, and their idea isn't the same as mine. Mine is totally different than having a "King/queen" seat that you can't move around on and are stuck in one position. The old original GL1000 was much more comfortable. But I'll be getting a stack of gel-pacs to compensate for it's short comings. and it'll be fine. I also cant see spending a huge sum of money for a custom built saddle that I may be just as disappointed in. so... |

Here's the pad I'm using: http://tinyurl.com/gqw9p4j The extra big size may be better for the Gold Wing: http://tinyurl.com/zzkkjr9 I absolutely love mine. Don't know how I ever got along without it. I had to raise my windscreen a bit to compensate for the additional height, but that wasn't a big problem. |
