Ken Shupe responded to a woman who was stranded on an interstate in
North Carolina on Monday. Shupe is a tow truck driver; the woman had
been involved in a wreck, according to reports.

But when Shupe arrived, he noticed something about the woman’s car —
specifically, he noticed that the woman was a supporter of Democratic
presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, according to Fox Carolina.

“Every business dealing in recent history that I’ve had with a
socialist-minded person, I haven’t got paid,” Shupe told the station.

He added: “Every time I’ve dealt with these people in recent history, I
get ‘Berned.’

“With an ‘e,’ not a ‘u.’ ”

So Shupe refused to tow her.

“He said ‘I can’t tow you, you’re a Bernie supporter,’ ” the woman,
Cassandra McWade, told The Post on Thursday. “And I was like, ‘Wait, are
you serious?’ ”

He was.

Fox Carolina reported: “When he saw ‘a bunch of Bernie Sanders stuff’ he
said he told the woman, ‘very politely,’ ” that he could not “tow her
car because she was ‘obviously a socialist’ and advised her to ‘call the
government’ for a tow.”

Attempts to reach Shupe by The Washington Post were unsuccessful
Thursday morning.

McWade — who said she had a Sanders yard sign visible in her car, as
well as a bumper sticker — said she was “totally in shock” as she
watched Shupe pull away.

“I was completely flabbergasted,” she said.
“Something came over me, I think the Lord came to me, and he just said
get in the truck and leave,” Shupe told an ABC affiliate. “And when I
got in my truck, you know, I was so proud, because I felt like I finally
drew a line in the sand and stood up for what I believed.”

According to Fox Carolina, Shupe identified himself as a conservative
Christian who supports Donald Trump. McWade, however, told The Post that
she felt he didn’t “exactly exemplify his belief.”

“You don't have to agree on anything just to be kind to one another,”
she said.

I don't think that would happen, actually. It's the Christian
Conservatives who seem to comprise the majority of those who are
discriminating in this country against members of groups they don't like.

I don't know about that. Saw a report about which "side" has
interrupted political rallies and town halls during the primary
campaigns. Records show the left interrupts and/or hold protests at
Republican candidate gatherings far more than the right does to the
Democratic candidates.

Report came from MSNBC ... a liberal leaning media outlet.

The vast majority of boycotts and shaming campaigns that get big
enough to be heard about state-wide or nationally are usually liberals
protesting a conservative organization. And Liberals are generally more
aggressive in their protests.

Example: A Christian Conservative might disapprove of homosexuals.
But the vast majority of those that do are have a mindset of "What you
do with your body is your own business... Just don't flaunt it in my
face." Whereas the majority of liberals have a mindset of "You WILL
approve of homosexuals, you will donate to homosexual causes, and you
will say that Bruce Jenner makes a beautiful woman. If you don't, we
will drive you out of business."

Speaking generically, of course, There are extremist wackos on both
sides, but there are far more liberal wackos than conservative wackos.

I don't know any liberals who want everyone to "approve" of homosexuals,
or donate to homosexual causes, or think Jennier is a beautiful woman.
Who are know are liberals who want gays, transexuals, et cetera, to be
treated in terms of civil rights and access, like everyone else.

Try being an openly conservative student on a college campus. Try
being a openly conservative teacher in a public school. You'll see a
LOT of political discrimination from the liberals in power.

Emery University is a great example of how "tolerant" liberals are.

Shouting someone down and denying them the right to speak is the
ultimate discrimination and that usually comes from the left. It is
particularly true on college campuses where they say they are teaching
critical thought but it really only seems to be thoughts that
criticize the right.

“I was completely flabbergasted,” she said.
“Something came over me, I think the Lord came to me, and he just said

Ahh, a "conservative Christian," following the edicts of Jesus, no
doubt.

If it was a democrat refusing to tow a car with a Cruz sticker you
would be telling us how they were standing up for freedom.

I don't think that would happen, actually. It's the Christian
Conservatives who seem to comprise the majority of those who are
discriminating in this country against members of groups they don't like.

The vast majority of boycotts and shaming campaigns that get big enough
to be heard about state-wide or nationally are usually liberals
protesting a conservative organization. And Liberals are generally more
aggressive in their protests.

Example: A Christian Conservative might disapprove of homosexuals. But
the vast majority of those that do are have a mindset of "What you do
with your body is your own business...

I suppose some of us wonder where it ends.
Nothing seems to be too weird not to be a protected class these days.
It is transvestites and cross dressers now. What's next?
Pedophiles? They just have age dysphoria. They think they are a child,
trapped in an adult body and they want to frolic with their peers.
Flashers are just expressing that they have overcome their negative
body image issues and we should applaud them.
I don't really care either way but I am curious what the rules are.

You don't think liberals ever do anything bad but it is the lefties
who are burning cop cars outside WTO meetings and they are the ones
causing the trouble at the Trump rallies.

Uh, please point out where I stated liberals do no bad.

As for "access," that's a ridiculous argument. The whole bathroom
debate is just stupid and illustrates my point. Men who live and dress
as women have been using women's restrooms for years, and NOBODY has
cared for the past 20 years. What's changed is now those groups insist
that everybody KNOWS and APPROVES of using those bathrooms.

By your standards more than half of the country is evil.

We should be in fear that they all vote for Trump. I am seeing more
and more people with pretty good credentials who are saying this might
really happen.

I'm on the fence on whether I'll even cast a presidential vote. So
far, his stated platforms a Anti Gun, Raise Taxes, Pro Amnesty, Pro
Planned Parenthood, No Entitlement Reform.

My main purpose in voting will be to vote for the people down ballot
that I support.

The only thing that MIGHT get me to vote for him is that there's at
least a 5% chance he'll do SOMETHING that I approve of. There's a
0.00001% chance that Hillary will do ANYTHING I approve of.

don't know how it was covered in the SW Florida Libertarian Funnies.

I guess I have just been outside and not glued to the TV

That is really the only thing that counts anyway. The president is
just a beauty contest

You're a funny guy.

If you think your vote really has anything to do with electing the
president you are certainly a true believer and if you think (s)he
cares about your little patch once they get elected you are even being
more foolish. You are lucky if Steny Hoyer is looking out for Calvert
County and it is really your best chance of having any influence at
all in DC. The farther you get out into flyover country, the truer
that is.
A hundred ****ed off people in Bozeman Mt can get a bill on the floor
in the US Senate and have the same number of senators supporting it as
53 million people in California.

I'm glad you won't be voting this fall, and I hope you will work to
convince your Republican friends to do the same.

So tell us Harry, exactly how long have you had these strange obsessions? Maybe you should consider getting a boat to take your mind off politics for a while.

Did you forget that he does have 1/2 interest in a canoe?
