Just reflecting the attitude of apple users who think they are
invulnerable.


The Apple computer users I know are careful...and smart enough to not
seek advice about computer virii, ransomware, malware, et cetera, on a
near-dead newsgroup that used to be about boating.

Some Apple users are, I'm sure, careful and follow good security
practices. Just like some Windows users.

Security is about best practices, not necessarily the OS.



Yeah, I don't download "torrents" or music/video files from usenet
sources. I have "jailbroke" my iPhone a few times, but only after the
jailbreaks have been available for a couple of weeks, and the reports
are that they are clean. I tend to install the same JB apps I've used in
the past, and under the same circumstances.

In my younger days, I admit that I did some torrenting. I never got a
virus that I was aware of, but as you mentioned above, I was careful
what I downloaded. Never download something that doesn't have any
reviews, and even if it does, take them with a grain of salt. Its not
that hard to tell fake reviews/comments from real ones. I never got
into the UseNET binaries.

Nowadays, with Netflix, Amazon Prime and three Redbox's within two
miles of my house, there's really no need to spend the time or waste the
space with torrented movies.

I always root my phones... But I wait until I see what happens to
everyone else that does it. Sometimes the wrong method is very
unhealthy for the phone!
