Just reflecting the attitude of apple users who think they are invulnerable. The Apple computer users I know are careful...and smart enough to not seek advice about computer virii, ransomware, malware, et cetera, on a near-dead newsgroup that used to be about boating. Some Apple users are, I'm sure, careful and follow good security practices. Just like some Windows users. Security is about best practices, not necessarily the OS. |

Yeah, I don't download "torrents" or music/video files from usenet sources. I have "jailbroke" my iPhone a few times, but only after the jailbreaks have been available for a couple of weeks, and the reports are that they are clean. I tend to install the same JB apps I've used in the past, and under the same circumstances. |

There is some obscure "ripped from vinyl" stuff you will only find on the usenet binary groups. You can usually find very good rips on Amazon of things with commercial value. If you just want "radio" grade music with any popular following, it is usually on you tube. The actual quality will vary on that. It seems fine for playing in the car or out by the pool. If you actually have an engineered listening room, a real good system and good ears, there are probably unacceptable defects in that stream but I am OK with them. ;-) |
