Locks and cables are so they look somewhere else. Yup it really only hinders people without tools. The guy who makes up boat lift cables for me has a cutter that just eats 3/8" SS cable. |

I just got an ad that brags about a new in the box Generac 17KW Standby Generator - $3200 Plus autoswitch box, base, heavy cables, rewiring, perhaps a buried gas line of 100 feet, trenching, permits and licensed electric and gas contractors, and you're up to $8000 to $10,000, depending upon area. This comes with the transfer switch. Wiring and gas will be more tho. It cost me 1500 for a buried propane tank and connection to the pool heater (total with a tank of gas). I would not pay for the electrical part other than materials and a $135 permit. If I was going to do something like this, I would set it right next to my pool heater, use the existing gas setup and wiring back to the panel is about 35' inside the garage. I am just not sure why I would want another generator since I have one that is still new in the box. FPL has been real good about keeping the lights on here. Virtually every outage we have had since Charley was within the capabilities of my UPS units. A lot of time we don't even know the lights are out unless we go into another room and turn a light on. The TV, DVRs and computers are all on UPS here. |

I just asked them for a few days heads up so I can get the Legend Xcalibur from under its Navigloo shelter and down off the blocks, install battery and dig out all the accessories and extras that belong to it. "You're trading in the Excalibur, right? Did you get a decent deal on it, hopefully?" Reasonable. Was offered a couple grand more on a travel trailer by the Legend dealer who also sells rv's, motorcycles and snowmobiles. On trade-ins they subtract the value of your trade-in from the new item before applying the 15pef cent tax, so doubt I could,X have sold mine for more on a private sale.
