For gun deaths, the "Red" states are the deadliest.

Gun Deaths per 100,000 Population

Alaska 20.4
Louisiana 19.2
Alabama 16.2
Mississippi 16.1
Wyoming 15.6
Montana 15.4
New Mexico* 14.9
Arizona 14.6
Nevada* 14.5
Arkansas 14.4

The “leading states,” in terms of gun deaths per 100,000 residents,
except for New Mexico and Nevada, were carried by the Republicans in the
2012 presidential race. All the rest of the states in the top 20 were
carried by the Republican candidate.

Just a quick fact or two to put this in perspective, the gun murder
rate in Alaska is 2.7 per 100,000. Arizona is 3.6, Montana is 1.2,
Wyoming is 0.9
It is 5.7 in Maryland, DC is 16.5 ... with all of those laws.
Vermont is the lowest in the country with virtually no gun laws.
Cherry picking numbers from a larger statistic base is a dangerous
thing.

If you want me to look at those "deep south" states, I would end up
being called a racist. (just like I would if I looked into those inner
city deaths)
I still remember the fact that Baltimore still has 304 unsolved
murders last year. (out of 355)

Gun deaths are gun deaths are gun deaths.

Why do you say that? If someone decides to commit suicide, the choice
of method is inconsequential. I do find it ridiculous that it gets
grouped into "gun violence". If the person had a can, it wouldn't even
be loud.

I would much rather they shoot themselves instead of suicide by cop, or
those who go out and crash their car in to some innocent family committing
suicide.

I don't have the time right now but it might be interesting to drill
down on what those deaths were and where they occurred.
My first question is how many were suicides. 6 months of winter will
do that to you ;-)
The next question in the southern states is how many were in the big
cities.

Are those who die by the gun any deader no matter the cause?

Are those owls still down there by the creek?

===

Perhaps there weren't any? It's very easy to mistake bats in the
belfry for owls by the creek.

I'm sure we'll be seeing his hawk pictures soon.
