In each case, the interpretation defined a "natural born" citizen as being a person born *in* the USA of parents who were citizens. The definition dates back centuries ago to "The Law of Nations", written by Emmerich de Vattel, a Swiss-German philosopher of law and adopted by France, Great Britain and the founding fathers of the USA. Under this definition, Cruz *and* Rubio are not eligible. Cruz was born in Canada. Rubio was born in the USA in 1971 but his Cuban parents did not become US citizens until 1975. Trump, although having a mother born in Scotland *is* because he was born in the USA and his parents were citizens. Now, we have to go check Hillary's family history. :-) Noonan thinks Hillary has an integrity problem? Hmmm. Where does that leave Trump, Christie, Rubio, Cruz, Huckabee, et cetera? So, Rubio is an...anchor baby? I didn't say anything about Noonan. The comment about Hillary was mine .... humor .. Oh. Well, I didn't bother with W'hine's URL from the Fox News Journal. ![]() |
