In another note I suggested that Trump will come out of this with a TV
show and the way it is going, I bet it will be on CNN. That is the
"all trump, all the time" network.
It has become more unwatchable that it was if that is possible.
I am watching New Zealand news if I want international stories
although the CNN show at 2:30-4 is not horrible. It is their
international feed.
BTW if you wanted to talk about a reasonable republican to throw at
the democrats, Steele might be the guy. I haven't heard him say
anything dumb for a while. The folks in Maryland seemed to like him as
a politician.
I imagine they are saving the stuff about Hillary until next summer
when people will still remember it at the polls. I expect this to be
one of the dirtiest campaigns in recent history with nothing off the
table ... on either side.
I think Steele gave it some early consideration based on some
encouragement by a number of people. I remember him being on "Morning
Joe" last year and the subject came up. He didn't completely put it out
of the question at the time. I think he realized what the GOP has
become though and flushed the idea. He's too smart and rational for his
party.
Michael Steele *is* a decent guy who is less conservative than he had to
pretend to be when he ran for public office here. I met him once at a
bull roast and suggested that if he switched parties to Democratic, he'd
probably win. He's thoughtful and articulate, and therefore probably
overqualified to seek the Republican presidential nomination.
He's not a good campaigner, though. He lost two big races in Maryland,
one of which he might have run but for a bungled campaign.
