"Some of his Republican candidates are saying that Mr. Trump's
latest comments have gone too far,”

"But the truth is, many of them have also said extreme things about
Muslims. Their language may be more veiled than Trump’s, but their ideas
are not so different.”

"They are all driving the exact narrative that Jihadists want to
advance. That we are at war not with barbarous, violent, murderers but
with an entire religion. This is a grave mistake,”

Earlier today, Mr. Trump said something which unfortunately I think
is true,” she said, to laughter, "Occasionally that happens -- rarely.”

"He said, ‘Oh yeah, that Republicans, they condemn me and then they
move closer to me.’ So, we’re not only dealing with one inflammatory
demagogue, we’re dealing with a party in danger of losing its way, of
undermining the values that we have stood for,”

The thing I have not seen addressed in the polls is how many people
who call themselves democrats, agree with Trump. I would not be
surprised if it was a double digit percentage.
He polls higher against a democratic candidate than he does against
the other republicans.

That has been pointed out by more than one political commentator.
Michael Steel (who I think is fair in his comments), even if he is a
Republican has made this point.

Regardless, the GOP has to find a way to shut Trump up if they hope to
have any chance at all. More info is coming out about Hillary and her
emails that are damning but it is being ignored in the media in lieu
covering the antics of the Donald.

In another note I suggested that Trump will come out of this with a TV
show and the way it is going, I bet it will be on CNN. That is the
"all trump, all the time" network.
It has become more unwatchable that it was if that is possible.
I am watching New Zealand news if I want international stories
although the CNN show at 2:30-4 is not horrible. It is their
international feed.

BTW if you wanted to talk about a reasonable republican to throw at
the democrats, Steele might be the guy. I haven't heard him say
anything dumb for a while. The folks in Maryland seemed to like him as
a politician.

I imagine they are saving the stuff about Hillary until next summer
when people will still remember it at the polls. I expect this to be
one of the dirtiest campaigns in recent history with nothing off the
table ... on either side.

I think Steele gave it some early consideration based on some
encouragement by a number of people. I remember him being on "Morning
Joe" last year and the subject came up. He didn't completely put it out
of the question at the time. I think he realized what the GOP has
become though and flushed the idea. He's too smart and rational for his
party.

Michael Steele *is* a decent guy who is less conservative than he had to
pretend to be when he ran for public office here. I met him once at a
bull roast and suggested that if he switched parties to Democratic, he'd
probably win. He's thoughtful and articulate, and therefore probably
overqualified to seek the Republican presidential nomination.

He's not a good campaigner, though. He lost two big races in Maryland,
one of which he might have run but for a bungled campaign.

I'm sure the Republicans still care about Hillary's emails.

The liberal leaning, no make that the liberal media will not touch Clintons email scandal as it could damage their candidate. Sad that many of us no longer trust the media to report the facts and the truth.

I guess it is OK when democrats say and do it but not republicans.

TV networks put on what people want to watch and there must be a
significant number of people on the left who want to watch Trump or he
wouldn't be on so much. That is why I bet he ends up with his own show
out of this, probably on CNN. He might even start his own network. You
know he thinks Ted Turner was a "loser"
