Thanks..that's a generous offer.
What I'd be more interested in would be exploring your little waterways on the pontoon...as long as I don't get bitten by a gator.

Any time.

Problem is come in the summer. Best weather on the coast here is winter.
Except for infrequent rain storms, is sunny at the coast. And when we get
large storms way out at sea, is great to take a day over to the coast to
watch huge breakers. When we get the 20-25' swells.

We were in California in June and Oregon in July. (separate trips)
The beach was freezing both times. Oregon was in the 50s and low 60s
at the beach. Inland was a lot warmer and the Gorge (Columbia river
near Mt Hood) was "Florida hot". Up on the mountain was a lot cooler.

This is near the Timberline Lodge where "The Shining" was filmed.

When we got down to San Diego/LaJolla the weather was very pleasant,
mid 70s but the water is still pretty cold.

Now how in the world could he guarantee that. People coax them near
boats with marshmallows. Guess what you would look like to a gator.

A big gator might be able to flip a kayak if you were doing something
stupid like feeding one but I would not be concerned at all in a real
boat. Guys hunt them in 14' Jon boats.

The inland heat during the summers pulls in the ocean fog and breezes.
Since the water is cold here, you get cold beaches in the summer up north
California. Winter is cold in the inland valleys so nice beach weather.
We have been in Carmel at 5 pm in February on the beach and 75 degrees.
Water still cold.

Water temps need to be at least 67* before I jump in.

Don I hope you can miss it too. The big time forecasters say that this

47 when I got up this morning. Haven't decided yet, whether or not to
brave the cold and do outside work today. ;-)

It was down in the 60s here last night. A few more nights like that
and the pool will be too cold to get in, at least for us. I know those
folks up north are OK with the water being in the 70s but we like it
in the 80s.

Pfffft.if the ocean water hits the high 60's we're happy as clams.

When the ocean here hits 60f it is an El Niño year. Normal is 48-55 year
round. But part of that is the upwelling that feeds the Eco system. Some
places here are a mile deep 1.5 miles offshore.

The first time I flew out to California, in the 1960s sometime, we ended
up at Malibu, and I wanted to go for a swim. It was summer, it was warm
out and I was wearing Bermuda shorts. So I took off my sneakers, socks,
and tee shirt and ran into the ocean. Holy ****, it was cold! Came right
out. July or August, I think.

Now, if memory serves, Long Island Sound was only in the very low 70s
when I swam in it. I don't know what the temp was in Malibu, but it was
not tolerable. Bummer.
Try Lake Superior. In 1975 we were on vacation in Grand Marais. We were at the beach. The air temp was around 95* so I decided to take a swim. I jumped in and it was frigid but I swam for 10 or so minutes and after the initial shock it felt good. Listening to the weather report on the news that evening they said the water temperature there was a balmy 49*. That is just about the coldest water I ever swam in on purpose.

They can't jump into a boat from the water. From land - sure. I carry
a gun just in case there is a breakdown...
