That's one thing about Trump, regardless of anyone's views of him. He doesn't spend a lot of time "preparing". While others are in the rehearsal room, he's off playing golf somewhere. He just says what is on his mind at the time of the question. Yeah, and to any thinking person, Trump's responses are just uninformed bull****...which the GOPers apparently like. Well-rehearsed and well-scripted to me means a candidate cares enough to prep for an event. Serious questions deserve serious answers, but apparently not so much to fans of Trump, Carson, Cruz, et al. \ Pretty lively debate on significant issues with significant differences, but no crazies and no name calling. Jim Webb is out of his league. |

No offense to Hillary intended although I did find many of her responses to be trite, predictable and contrived. Bernie Sanders comes across as a very straight, likable guy in spite of his ultra liberal views on some things.. Bernie is certainly passionate about his views and he has been consistent over the years, it appears. I never paid much attention to him before he decided to run for president. Obviously, he won't get the nomination, and I don't think he ever expected to. He just wants to influence others, particularly Hillary, to adopt more left leaning positions on issues. He has succeeded. As for Hillary, she came across pretty well in the debate, but it shouldn't take 3 weeks of rehearsals and scripting to answer questions honestly and truthfully. Hillary was the clear winner in last night's debate. She was well-prepared, had thoughtful answers, stood her ground when criticized, and hit back in a reasonable way.\ Bernie Sanders was Bernie Sanders, though a bit more subdued than when he is alone on a stage or podium. I've always liked and enjoyed Bernie: on most issues, his heart is in the right place. I'm not sure why Lincoln Chaffee was there. Martin O'Malley was a colorless governor of my current home state, and that apparently has not changed. Jim Webb showed me nothing at all, being a willingness to debate the debate moderator. He's a man with a great record of public service and yet he seemed to have nothing to offer. I no longer think he'd be a good veep candidate for Hillary. I did enjoy the debate and discussion and, compared to the Republican pigfest, the lack of rancor toward their fellow candidates. The debaters understand the issues and they never got ugly. The Republicans are 7th graders. Oh, and Hillary will eat the bombastic Mr. Trump alive. He's got nothing beyond his big mouth, and she'll cut his testicles off on that. My view of the Donald has changed considerably. But first, please don't take what I say as an indication of my support for him. He hasn't the makings of being POTUS. When he first announced his candidacy, I figured it was just another one of his publicity seeking, ego driven endeavors. He loves to be in the news. But as he went on I started to realize that he is sincere in his love for his country and truly wants to make a difference. He just can't because he doesn't have the personality, the political knowledge or any idea of how Washington DC works. He's trying to make a difference using the only skill sets he has which includes his bombastic ways. I've come to the conclusion that Hillary is very likely to be our next POTUS. Trump is the type that if Hillary comes on strong in a debate and scores big time, it will impress him and he'll turn around and endorse her. So, that's how I see the cards being played. Hillary is very likely to win in 2016. As I've said before, I can't in good conscience vote for her though. Too many lies and too many deceit filled skeletons in her closet. I'll just sit this election out. |
