In Murika...
The gun is now the solution of choice. SEATTLE -- A man was shot and killed in a busy area of Seattle's Capitol Hill early Sunday morning. Police responded to calls about a large disturbance with shots fired just after 2 a.m. near Pine Street and Melrose Avenue. When they arrived, officers found a man in a nearby parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police. "I was standing right next to him. He was dead," said Charles, who didn't want to release his last name. He said several witnesses tried to perform CPR on the man. "They came out of the club and obviously they were gonna be fighting. So, I thought I was gonna be watching a fist fight," he said. "Feel like it was a senseless death, you know? It was unnecessary, uncalled for. Could have been all avoided." "Officers administered CPR and Medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries," officer Lauren Lovanhill said in a Sunday news release about the shooting. The victim later died at the hospital. "He was a good guy. He wasn't a bad person," said Charles. Homicide detectives and CSI found several separate groups of shell casings within a block and a half of the crime scene, which they believe means multiple people were firing guns in the melee. "There was a really, really kind of morbid moment where it felt like 'Wow, this is going to go on for a while. It's gonna be a while before police get here and there's shots being fired.' So, multiple clips. So, what do we do?" said witness Michael Huang, who watched the situation unfold from a restaurant across the street. Police have not released a description of the shooter or shooters. |
