Another religious post.

Who's attempting to cram religion down throats, Krause?

In this country? Christian fundamentalists.

Nobody is poking religion down your throat Harry.

Bull****.

For about the hundredth time, who here is poking religion down your throat?

And when you can't answer that one, who here is making all the posts about religion?

Why does discussion about religion so impact you, Johnny the Racist?
It's not as if you have any serious religious beliefs, eh?

You have no serious religious beliefs, Harry.

Sure I do. I believe most of what is called "religion" arose from
earlier man's superstitions and inability to understand nature, his
surroundings, and what seemed then to be inexplicable. Most of what
comprises the fundamentals of your religion arose because the promise of
an "wonderful afterlife in heaven with Jesus" was appealing to the
overwhelming majority of ordinary people whose existence in early times
consisted of endless toil, a short life and a lot of suffering.

Those are pretty serious religious beliefs. I don't know whether there
*is* a god, and neither does anyone else. In the absence of proof, I am
a skeptic. What I do know, though, is that religion - all religion - is
a construct of man.

So you ARE religious. Then you should have o problem with religion even with those whom you say 'cram' religion down others throats. like you do here....

My *problem* with religion occurs when the religious try to or do cram
their religious beliefs down the throats of those who believe
differently or not at all.

And the cramming doesn't have to be aimed at me, personally. It can be
aimed a society generally. Obviously, I have no need of abortion
services, but I want abortions to be readily available to women who want
one. The "religious" fight that and have restricted access. Also, I
don't want creationism taught in the public schools, but the religious
do, and keep trying. Those are just two examples. There are many, many
more. When I was a kid, our state was constricted by the so called "blue
laws" that required most stores to remain closed on Sundays. That was
religion shoving itself down peoples' throats. My dad and other boat
dealers worked together for years to have that law scrapped, and,
finally, they succeeded. Why should a religious belief like that
restrict the rights of those who believe differently? We're not talking
about "Thou shall not kill," eh?

I often think of John Donne's poem...

No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own we
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.

Well, when the "religious" restrict anyone's rights, they are
restricting my rights, because I "am involved" and the bell tolls for
all of us.

So your daddy was a heathen. That's where you get it from.
I notice you heap praise on your daddy but the only thing you have to
say about your mom is that she was a "functionary for the Republican
party". So telling.

I wonder if she answered his questions with name-calling.
