Default Jeb shoves his foot deeper into his mouth.

Jeb Bush wants to push back the retirement age for Social Security by as
many as five years.

Instead of allowing Americans to collect full benefits at age 65, the
former Florida governor and likely GOP presidential candidate suggested
on Sunday that it should be pushed back to 68 or 70.

“I think it needs to be phased in over an extended period of time,” he
said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“We need to look over the horizon and begin to phase in, over an
extended period of time, going from 65 to 68 or 70,” he added. “And
that, by itself, will help sustain the retirement system for anybody
under the age of 40.”

In typical dumbass Bush family fashion, Jeb is misinformed. The
retirement age can't be raised from 65, because it's already 66, and is
already slated to rise to 67 for those born in 1960 or later.

There is actually a very simple way to insure funding for Social
Security - just raise the amount of earnings subject to taxes. In fact,
just eliminate the "lid," and make all earnings and investment income
subject to the Social Security tax.

As far as raising the retirement age further, that might work for people
with desk jobs, but it seems rather cruel to be telling physical
laborers to work until 70. Also, while the average lifespan has gone up,
lower income Americans have shorter lifespans and do not stay healthy
for as long on average, so they are less likely to be able to work into
their late 60s. Further, with the high cost of living, the shift of
wealth from the middle class to the wealthy, and the elimination of real
pensions, Bush's idea will just be another way to make life harder for
those in the middle and lower income levels.

Bush should stick to talking about those areas in which he has
expertise...as soon as he finds them.

You should avoid giving advice to successful folks until you become
successful and expert at something,,,,,anything.
