Default Glastron GS 229, cant fill fuel tank

Does any one on here own one of these boats. I cant seem to fill my 47 gal
tank over 30 gal. The dealer has informed me that Glastron knows about the
problem but has no fix. I find this ridiculous but has anyone else heard of
this or has this problem?

If indeed it is a 47 gallon tank then there are a couple of possibilities.
1. The vent is located below the top of the tank
2. The fill is located below the top of the tank
3. The boat is setting at such an angle that either the fill or vent is
below the highest point on the tank.

If this is not it, then the tank either has something inside it or is not a
47 gal tank.

Thanks Tony, It is stamped as a 47 gal. it has a rear vent and fill,
Glastron states to "remove your trailer from vehicle and lower bow as far as
you can then fill" complete bull**** if you ask me. I asked about when it is
in the water and sitting stern heavy and was told " move your passengers to
the bow" . This is from Glastron.

I have the same problem with the 55 gal tank in my MaXum.
Same rear fill/vent arrangement. If your problem is fuel
spurting out the vent at 30 gal, the resolution is to fill
the tank *very* slowly. If I do this, I can get about max
capacity. If I fill it fast, about 35 gal before the vent
spurts.
The problem is the fuel sloshes back and forth in the tank
during filling, causing premature vent surges. If you fill
slowly, the problem is minimized.

Sounds like the vent line is too low and they know it.
As another suggested fill slow and see what happens.
On my bayliner I always filled it w/ the pump set on the lowest notch. If
you filled fast, it would splash back out and all over everything before the
pump could kick off.

I appreciate all the input, Unfortunately filling on the slow, or first
click on the handle is how I could get 30 gal in it. If anyone else has an
idea I would love to hear it.

Check that the problem isn't that the filler hose is routed in such a
way that it is actually lower the the top of the tank at some point.
I had that problem on one of those B-brand Boats and until I
re-reouted the hose. I had to put all people and gear on one side
while I filled at the other or it would back-up.

Same thing here with a Bombardier Utopia 185. If I know the 40 gallon tank
is half full, I'll leave it up there for about 16 gallons, then back down
to the first notch.
