Could be, I suppose. I have "Ad-Block" running and I use AVG for
anti-virus.

Once in a while a site with a video will detect that Ad-Block is enabled
and running and will prevent the video from playing. If I really want
to see it I can do a one time "allow" in the Ad-Block setting, put up
with the advertisement and then see the video. I think it would do the
same in Internet Explorer as well (if you are using Ad-Block).

It only happens once in a great while though. Most of the time I can
view any of the videos (minus the ads) with no problem.

Does Ad-Block prevent the ads that begin with many of the YouTube videos?

Does that occur when you click a link only outside Firefox?



If you are using Firefox as your browser, how do you click on a link
"outside" Firefox?

If someone posts a link to a video here, in the newsgroup, and I'm seeing the link in
my newsreader, Agent, I can double click the link and my default browser will open to
that site. If I've set Firefox to be the default, then Firefox will open and go to
that page. If IE is set as default, then IE will open to that page.

I have it on the Vista laptop and have used it instead of Quicktime from
time to time.

Only thing I noticed is that on some video files the color is sometimes
washed out almost completely when compared to playing the same video in
Media Player or even Quicktime (if .mp4 or .mov). Doesn't happen all
the time and can't explain why it does it.

Don't need it on the Win 7 computer. Media Player displays everything
just fine.

I don't know what version of Media Player is on the Win 7 laptop. I
don't have it running right now. I am sorta saving it for when this
Vista machine finally dies. I checked what's on the Vista however.
It's version 11.0.6002.XXXX something. The Win 7 version must be newer
because it's .mp4 and .mov compatible and has more features.

I could upgrade the player (and Movie Maker) on this Vista but it's not
worth the bother. You have to install "Windows Essentials" which I
really am not interested in because I have no need for it.

If I want to edit a .mp4 or .mov video on the Vista, I have to first
convert it to .avi using an old version of Roxio Creator that I
installed when I first bought the computer. If I am more in a hurry, or
it's a large video file, I'll fire up the Win 7 and just import the .mp4
or .mov file directly to Movie Maker.

sucks.

Windows 7 is the good one.

I really like my win7 laptop. When my old Computer shot fire out the back. that took care of that. This laptop took a bit of getting used to. I'm not a fan of the screen but for the spacer I work with I don't have much option at the moment. but I manage.
