According to several sources there are coyotes in every county in the lower 48 states. They are even living in New York City, Chicago, Detroit and other bigger cities.

Grew, here in s.illinois. They're a pest and there's an open season on them. With no hunting restrictions.

Our old house up north was only 5 miles outside the New York City
limits. We spotted coyotes in the neighborhood several different
times, as well as the usual crop of deer, raccoons, skunks, rabbits,
etc.
