Yes they are a good size wild dog, that is usually afraid of humans, but obviously can encroach in urban areas. If hungry enough they have be known to attack people and kill children. According to several sources there are coyotes in every county in the lower 48 states. They are even living in New York City, Chicago, Detroit and other bigger cities.

Grew, here in s.illinois. They're a pest and there's an open season on them. With no hunting restrictions.
