Maybe you should rent a weapon at the range and see if you like it enough.
Or are you just an arms dealer wannabe?

It was an impulsive buy for Krause. He wanted a 686-6+ in the worst way
but when he checked price and availability he discovered they were
pretty scarce. He settled for 2nd best. Now he regrets his impatience
and impulsiveness. Would you buy anything Krause had control of? He has
some crazy ideas on "how things should be". And we're not just talking guns.

For shame.

It was very nice of Harry to offer this gun to us at a very reasonable price. The
best price I could find is almost $600, and there may be a couple hundred dollars
worth of grips and sights on the gun. I'm wondering what the shipping charge would
be. Damn UPS wanted $85 to ship a gun to Texas for me. I sold it locally.

Your buddy FlaJim is so blinded by his hate that very little of what he
posts here has any logic behind it. Or sense. Which is why he is
permanently bozo-binned.

The Ruger GP 100's are terrific revolvers, and I've enjoyed mine, though
I haven't used it much.

Mine is for sale because I don't need or want two .357 MAG revolvers. I
don't have the new one yet, but it is a 4" barrel model, with a six
round cylinder. To me, revolvers should be six shooters.

I ended up buying the new revolver because a gunsmith/dealer friend who
was out at the SHOT show somehow ended up with seven of them brand new
in various barrel lengths and he had buyers for all but one, so he
called me from Vegas or wherever the show was and asked me if I wanted
it. What the hell. I said yes. I didn't even know what model it was
until he got back from his "road trip."

The shipping charges are manageable if you split them. Best of all, of
course, is to sell it locally and have the buyer pick it up from a
convenient FFL. No shipping charges.

Not a nice way to start a response.

I've not questioned your rationale for these actions. I'm sure they have good
reasons.

Good luck with the purchase and the sale.

Handguns supposedly are to be shipped 2nd day air. When I sent the
"receiver" upper of my Ruger Mark III out to have the barrel threaded,
it came back that way. I didn't send it out that way.

If that falls through I think I was at $151.50 ;-)

Probably too strong a gun for a guy like you. ?

I have had one for almost 50 years. Never had a problem shooting it,
with stuff a lot hotter than you can buy. I did load up some stuff
that would be great in your LE tho. It was a bit to slow a powder even
for the 6" bbl I was shooting (4227) but in a carbine it would really
step out.
I was pushing a 146gr JHP at around 1625 with a lot of unburned powder
blast.and I bet it would be more like 1800-1900 out of a carbine.
That is getting you up in the 30-30/7.62x39 range when you factor in
the cross sectional density.

Would my S&W Model 28-2 handle that stuff? I've only had mine about 40 years, given
to me by my brother, a cop at the time.

It was really too hot for a .357 but I was pushing the envelope in
those days

I think the 140 grain Hornady rounds I have are around 1500 fps out the
muzzle, and of course significantly more out the muzzle of my carbine.
No sweat for a Ruger GP100 or Smith 686.

I was kidding of course about your "inability" to shoot the revolver.
These 6" Rugers are soft shooters.

I assumed you were and I did put a smiley after the bid.

Was that $151.50 'Merican? :)

I really would like to sell the revolver to someone I know or sort of
know, instead of to an internet bidder I don't know on a gun discussion
board, but. . .

I suspect it'll be "going three times and gone" this week.

This is where UPS got me:

"Handguns, as defined by 18 U.S.C. § 921, will be accepted for transportation only
via UPS Next Day Air Services, specifically, UPS Next Day Air® Early A.M.®, UPS Next
Day Air®, and UPS Next Day Air Saver®"

That 'next day air' **** is what gets expensive.

I looked at the Fedex site but could find no such requirement. Next time I'll know
better.
