"The Ninth Circuit’s three-judge panel in Peruta v. San Diego affirmed
the right of law-abiding citizens to carry handguns for lawful
protection in public. San Diego County had denied lead plaintiff
Edward Peruta and others a license to carry concealed, which,
according to state law, required residents to show “good cause” for
carrying—personal safety alone did not qualify as good cause in
California.

The court disagreed and struck the highly subjective “good cause”
requirement. That was a major win from a state known for being very
left of center and extremely anti-gun in its politics."

The only problem I have with the whole concealed carry thing is that
too often some people seem to think that the right to carry is a right
to shoot.

But, I agree with the court's ruling.

In MA, I used to think it was sorta screwy to give your town's police
department the authority to determine who gets a concealed carry permit
and who doesn't ... or what restrictions, if any, to place on it. The
more I've thought about it though, the more it makes sense.

Your local police department is likely to be aware if you are a trouble
maker, a hot-head or have any other demonstrated personality flaws that
may make you a risk to be walking around with a loaded gun on you. Only
works well in a "may" issue state though.

I do not trust the local stooges to make that decision. I have seen too
many times to this day favors done, and folks hassled simply because
they fall on the wrong social side of the local sherrif/cops... I have
neighbors who grow pot in their back yard every season and in the fall
you can see it right from the street with little effort.. but they get
away with it, even brag about it... can you guess why? snerk

You still crying about that imaginary shove down the police station stairwell?
Most likely you stumbled while in a drug induced stupor.

Doubt he needs drugs to be in a stupor.

Just because you are opposed to abortion doesn’t make you pro-life. Your
morality is deeply lacking if all you want is a child born but not a
child fed, not a child educated, not a child housed, not a child
clothed, not a child able to see the doctor. That’s not pro-life…that’s
pro-birth.

Harry's response was 8 minutes later. Who is that obsessed with this
group? They probably discussed their dumb replies in advance.

Sad, Don. How you could be a better person.
And maybe he did get shoved down the stairs. Maybe the cops did not like
hippies. Just look at some of the police brutality cases over the years.
I bet you have the same problems in Halifax.

Hippie? The hippie movement was pretty much over by 1970 or so.
Psychosnotty was too young back then to be a hippie. More likely, he was
just a loudmouthed little ****, just as he is now, who got busted on a
drug charge.

Which still does not allow for police misconduct.
