Please tell me you're not encouraging Johnny to take up real flying as his next hobby.
He has a history of bailing out before mastering any of them.
That could be fatal in a small airplane.

The positive side is that his widow could use the insurance money to
help find herself a non-racist husband who didn't have to keep coming up
with hobbies so that he didn't have to spend time with her. I met Mrs.
Herring: she's a very nice woman.

Did you notice that she didn't invite you to her house for dinner? That
wasn't an oversight. ;-)

First plane I ever flew was a J3 just like that only much older and
well used. We flew from a grass field in the upstate NY Finger Lakes
region. It's a totally basic plane with almost no instrumentation.
The fuel gage was a wire with a float attached, easily viewed from the
pilots seat.

Wayne, by brother has a mint 1949 J4 (side by side) 85 hp Continental engine. Cruise is 80 kts. 4 gal. Per hr fuel rate. It's a motorized box kite but a blast to fly in!

Btw it is equipped with IFR ( I Fly Roads) lol!

That's cool. Take some pix of it. Is it painted yellow?

Heh. I think we were flying corn fields and vineyards the time I
went up. It definitely was a hoot.
