First plane I ever flew was a J3 just like that only much older and
well used. We flew from a grass field in the upstate NY Finger Lakes
region. It's a totally basic plane with almost no instrumentation.
The fuel gage was a wire with a float attached, easily viewed from the
pilots seat.
