We also have a pretty low cost of living. You can take 7-10% right off
the gross because we do not have an income tax. Housing is cheaper and
you do not have those cold weather expenses.

If they don't want to live there, buy a Kevlar vest and move to DC
where the money is great.


Florida has nice beaches and great fishing. I remember sky-high car and
property insurance rates, grocery prices in Publix higher than they were
in Giant, fundamentalist churches seemingly on every corner, too many
houses with T1-11 siding and no basements, water shortages, congested
and underdeveloped state roads, lousy schools, a lack of drastically
needed social services. Of course, things might have changed in the last
20 years.

Too many of today's conservative politicians are racists or
corporationists or both, and are intent on destroying this country, and
some of them on the national level transcend naive. Ben Carson, a new

Quite a few of the Jewish faith as it turns out, and although I've
never had a black friend, I've beeen friendly with a number of black
colleagues, some of whom I hired. We used to live in a neighborhood
with a number of black doctors, nice people who did a good job
bringing up their children and contributing to society. Shortly after
we moved in, my sometimes intolerant father-in-law took me aside and
asked if my next door neighbor was black. I said to him, oh you must
be talking about Dr. Palmer the opthamologist.
