Default A great day on the river.

Man what a nice day. A friend of one has a 17ft Jon boat with a 35 evinrude 6 ft beam and stick steering. No speed boat but great to fish out of. We took it up the Wabash river making a 40 mile one way run. The temps were low 70s but the sun felt hot.

The "flying fish" (Asian carp) were a pain in some places but not bad in others.

Just a nice day enjoying a mid western river. Just got home and I'm beat. If next weekend is as good as today, we'm probably do it again!

By the way, did I mention it was a nice day? Lol!

Nothing wrong with stick steering. I have it on one of my boats -
350HP, too! I'm glad I don't have to worry about 10# "flying fish"!

I've never seen that. Down in the islands however it's fairly common
up to 80 or 90 hp, along with manual pull start. Typically the
motors are Yamaha Enduro 2 strokes. I don't think you can buy them
here in the US.

Maybe 375. It's swinging a 72" prop. You need a lot of torque for that.

Now that makes sense. I've never seen a stick or tiller on an outboard THAT big!

Sounds like a super day, Tim! Wonder if you could get in any shotgun practice on those flying carp.

John, I don't know how effective you could be with a shotgun. Check this out. I don't know why they're throwing them back...alive!
