It's not as easy as it looks.

Way back in the 60's the Canadian Navy developed the 'Bear Trap' system to help land the old Sea Kings on our destroyer escorts.
Helicopter lowered a cable that was attached to a winch in the middle of the flight deck and the helo was slowly reeled in.
