.... the elusive Wayne B up
![]() After looking at the design again for a while trying figure out how to set the skegs so they would work, not cut in turning, and not look ugly, not get sucked into muddy beaches etc... I decided to eliminate the flat trailing ends of the lifting strakes and make them act more like skegs for linear stability... Here is "Tri Hull Version 3"! http://rowdymouseracing.com/whaler.html This is faired and ready to go hopefully no more major changes... ![]() |

There's one comment that's not clear to me: "Whaler Clone Version 3 is a 7 plank hull." Perhaps in error, I had assumed it was going to be stitch and glue construction with plywood panels. To me a plank hull is something other than that but possibly my understanding is incorrect. |

To me a plank hull is something other than that but possibly my understanding is incorrect. It's been a while so my terminology is rusty, plus I am copying versions of these posts to laymans forums and need to simplify at times but thanks for asking so I can clear up my understanding, and possibly be corrected ![]() Anyway, I meant 7 panel or 7 "strake" hull I think is the term.. There are two bottom panels then five more panels and I include the two water shedding strakes, and the sheer strake in that count. Even the small sliver shaped strakes are counted... If I am correct and remember correctly you count the bottom in a vee hull as two strakes and then count up one side... It will be a combination of Stitch and Glue and tack and tape. The outside angles more than 180 will be nailed and those under 180 will be stitch and tape... Most of my designs incorporate several different joining methods, I am not loyal to any of them ![]() most expensive, but outside seams need to be taped anyway to protect the edges.... |
