We used to see them often beside the long, woods lined road that led to
the house in Florida. We were warned that they were filthy and disease
ridden and being attacked and gored by one was a very serious issue.
Never saw them in our yard though. Just had alligators, rattlesnakes,
coral snakes, and armadillos. Oh, and horses.
My snakes are all pretty benign. I did have a couple of water
moccasins but no rattlesnakes or coral snakes. We do get a lot of
snakes people think are coral snakes tho.
We mostly have rat snakes in various colors, scarlet kings, ring necks
and a bunch of black snakes. They are welcome here.
I don't even mind the armadillos but my neighbors hate them.
I don't think anyone is mad at the possums and raccoons.
The onl;y good thing I have heard about the wild hogs is, if you have
room, you can trap them, put them on a better diet and slaughter them
a year or two later,
... or you can sell them to the French who think the gamey taste is
"exotic"
