Actually, there are lots of people concerned about the privatization of prisons. The practice is full of abuses, and should be abolished. We incarcerate a larger percentage of our population than any other modern western country, and for longer terms, too. This is an offshoot of the private prison phenom... It is immoral to create new crimes and incarcerate more people for more time in order to meet contractual obligations of a for-profit prison. Of course, raising this sort of issue in this bastion of right-wingedness is an exercise in futility. Are you really suggesting that new crimes are created just so we can incarcerate more people? I'm suggesting that accommodations are made to help private prisons maintain a high occupancy rates. State legislatures in a number of states are eager to kiss the asses of private prison corporations. You are starting to sound like Scott. Conspiracies galore. It's not a conspiracy. It's quite open. It's been documented in news stories. Here's a news story that mentions the deals private prisons get to keep occupancy high: http://tinyurl.com/m9edbdw How do you feel about Bernie Madoff? Maybe we should petition to have his 150 year sentence reduced. I mean it's not like he directly killed or physically assaulted anyone. Maybe if he says he's sorry to all the people he screwed out of their life savings they will forgive and forget. A 150 year sentence for a non-violent criminal is absurd. You're right. Why warehouse him? Electrocute him. |

Therefore you swerve to run over people. Yet another example of how what is left of your brain malfunctions. What makes you think a "swerve" was involved? You just assumed that. The conclusions you draw from what is posted here usually are wrong. You did not drive straight, or you would not have pinned the burglar. As usual, you are truth challenged. We'll explain this for the terminally stupid... The thief was in my garage, loading up his car with my stuff. When I clicked on the opener in my truck, the garage door opened and the thief crossed from the passenger side of his car and over to the driver side of my truck. I drove straight forward and pinned him. Do you need a diagram? How courageous of you. Was he threatening you in any way? The part of that whole story I find believable is that Harry was in his driveway and opened the garage door. The rest? Hah! |
