My Colt AR15 is pre-ban. If the gas system if the same as the M&P

Change the buffer spring or the buffer.

Sure, but if the factory is content with their product and I can buy a
better firearm off the shelf, why the need for modifications?

Finding .380 (I miss-typed) is the problem - at a decent price. 9MM is
cheaper from the same manufacturers!?

They sell a lot more 9mm.
As the pipeline fills up the other calibers will start catching up.

You will usually still find the best deals online, even with shipping
... assuming your state will let them ship it to you.

I am still waiting this one out.

Your theory is solid except for .22LR. I can't figure that one out.
