Was in the gun store Friday looking at a new AR. $699 for M&P Sport.
$399
for a 1000 rd case of ammo for it. Maybe should wait on the AR?

I don't like how the M&P shoots. The gas system doesn't seem as refined
as my Colt or my friend's Rock River Arms. It feels more like my bolt
action .223.

There are two different systems. The M&P and original M16 gas tube
system and then the newer more expensive Piston at the end of the
forestock system.

My Colt AR15 is pre-ban. If the gas system if the same as the M&P
there's something else that is off.

Change the buffer spring or the buffer.

Sure, but if the factory is content with their product and I can buy a
better firearm off the shelf, why the need for modifications?

Commodity center fire ammo will flirt with 15-20 cents a round and I
will jump back in. Until then I am OK.

..308 is still more than .45!

..45's pretty cheap at WalMart, and they seem to have it most of the time.

Finding .380 (I miss-typed) is the problem - at a decent price. 9MM is
cheaper from the same manufacturers!?
