Now I'm beginning to see why you find it necessary to add an 'ny' or 'ie' to peoples names. A bit babyish, but kinda cute in its way. Perhaps there will be a sport that involves buying one gun after another via mail order and never finding the one that's suitable. |

Uh, FOAD, I think you've proven you've had or have many more guns than I can dream of. It's hard to keep it all straight, eh? |

I haven't watched Olympic sports in many years, but I seem to recall a couple of events for pedal-powered bicycles. That seems appropriate for the Olympics, but I'm pretty certain there is no place in the Olympics for engine-powered sports, and there shouldn't be. It's a shame that you find no sports interesting to watch. I'd think you'd find curling fairly entertaining. No pushing or shoving, no fouls, no exertion, no nasty sweating, all the strategy of pocket pool, and, according to your bud, extremely exciting. But, given the pride you show for your country, I can understand you not rooting for the 'home team' in any of these sports. It's rather neat that Norway is at the top of the medal count. Here's a USA Today article which puts the USA close to the bottom. You should find that enjoyable,. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/02/olym...capita-norway/ "In this Olympic medal count, the United States is near the bottom" |

Now there's a great idea. Get smoke belching polluting, noisy kiddie bike racing into the Olympics. What would be next... Nascar racing? ...and what do mean about giving us "another gimmie". Not sure if you understand how the Olympics works but athletes have to beat the best the world has to offer in order to earn a gold medal. Tell us of all the nuances of Ice Sweeping. |

There's a lot of strategy and thinking involved, along with the skill level found in Olympic class athletes. I've got to admit, I find women's hockey a little more interesting. But I can understand that it might be too slam, bang, shoot'em up for you. They probably also like ribbon dancing in the summer Olympics. And True North as a janitor has to admire the broom work in Curling. Now *that* is funny! It's not right to make fun of Don because of his profession. He doesn't do that about anyone else's occupation. Besides, becoming a janitor takes a lot of training, especially the liberal arts type. Where would we be without them? And, most likely the heroin found in that Fallsburg elementary school was found by an observant janitor. I don't know what Don did for a living back in the day, but whatever it was, it was certainly on a higher societal level than traveling overseas to a country that did us no wrong and be part of a United States effort that resulted in a decade of shootings, bombings, and use of chemical weapons. Really, John, it's hard for me to think of a job that was less useful than participating in a war against Vietnam in which years of efforts were made to try to shoot, bomb and chemically send Vietnam back into the stone age, and kill about a million Southeast Asians in the process. Do you ever feel remorse for the killing games in which you participated, either directly or indirectly? I mean, Vietnam was not like WW II in which the future of the free world was at stake, right? There were conscientious objectors and there were scaredy cats. Which of those were you? |

I don't buy them the way you do, via mail order without handling/shooting an identical or very similar model first to make sure it is suitable for my intended purpose. |

You're making **** up again. I never said I find "no sports interesting to watch." I'm proud of my country when it or its inhabitants have accomplishments in which it is worthy to take pride. Sending the troops in to provide disaster relief puts a big smile on my face. So does an American winning a Nobel for medicine, science, literature, peace. Olympic victories in which professional, paid athletes compete in activities that once were appropriate only for amateurs does little for me. |

You were mighty proud when O'Bama was handed the peace prize, weren't you? Could you elaboate on jus exactly you were proud of. |
