AOL 9.x looks like Yahoo with a screen full of crap I am not

I like Thunderbird. I had used it years ago on other computers.
I've tried different versions of Agent but never liked them much.
Thunderbird works just fine for both email and newsgroups and made John
happy because it conforms to newsgroup protocol in terms of how it
handles signatures. :-)

Another comment regarding Usenet. I realize things change but it's
really regrettable that newsgroups became available via web based forums
like "Goggle Groups" and others. When that started the whole culture of
usenet began to change resulting in people like the clown in Canada (the
"other" Scott) having easy access to newsgroups. There were always
debates and disagreements but they had a different flavor than now. I'd
love to see web based access to newsgroups disappear. For those who
still want access, there are free newsgroup servers and free readers
(like Agent and Thunderbird) available. I happen to subscribe to
Giganews as a server for $4 a month and it's well worth it to get a few
chuckles here every other day.

I get Giganews via Earthlink, included in my internet. But I think I
have read where you can subscribe to Giganews for about $29 a year.

I don't know about $29 a year. My subscription used to be about $12
per month for some ungodly amount of downloads that I never came close
to using. I changed it to the cheapest subscription which is about $4 a
month. I did this a couple of months ago and remember reviewing all
the subscription options. I don't remember seeing one for $29 for a
year. Maybe it's an introductory plan to get new subscribers.

I'll say this for Giganews. I can't remember the last time it's server
was off-line.

I like Giganews and I have the $12 plan but I do binaries (not as much
as I used to).

They just don't seem to be making much old music anymore and I have
all they made ;-) (27 gig or so)

You guys are convincing me to switch to Giganews. Is the change difficult with Agent?
