He's probably right. The Canadians take their marine sanitation very
seriously. Here in FL Porta Potties are not legal unless
"permamently" installed. That has been interpreted to mean secured
to the boat in some way, and with permanent pump out and vent hoses
fitted.

No, I'm talking about installing a head on his boat. Where would you put
it on an open runabout like that.

That's where the cruising canvas comes in handy. Some Canadians do
amazing things with relatively small boats. The Rideau Canal is well
protected from wind and waves in most places.

In 2012 all Legend boats with the full windshield came equipped with the full stand-up 'canvas'.

What is the threshold for requiring a real head?
The old 2 part "dump it" style seems to be standard here until you get
into a real yacht like Wayne has. Fishing boats might have a bucket,
if they are trying to be snooty.

Water temp. When it gets too cold for the women to jump in the water, you gotta have something else.

I understand but that is usually the tent and the portapotty on an
upscale boat. Redneck women just hang their ass over the side. ;-)

I think hanging it over the side is the same as emptying a pot over the side - highly illegal.
Jumping in and peeing isn't. I think.

Believe it or not, going over the side is perfectly legal as long as
you're not committing indecent exposure, i.e., as long as no one sees
you and complains.

I'm excited thinking of trailering the Legend Xcalibur down to Cape Breton's Mira River.

Beautiful area and I haven't boated there yet.

Looks like a half decent launch ramp at Marion Bridge.

Here's a tune by Anne Murray and the Celtic Women about the charms of the area.

Looks great, Don. I think you should go for it!

I know. I was trying to be a little humorous - very little. I took a friend and his dad fishing in
the bay. The dad got sick, a long way from a real potty. I let him use the wash bucket on the boat,
but he had to empty it over the side. Illegal, I know, but the guy had a bad case of the runs.

I'm sure I'm the only person here who's ever done anything like that in the Chesapeake, and I feel
rightfully guilty. I hope the statute of limitations has run out.

If they prosecuted for that, the WSSC directors would get the chair.
They keep kicking the can down the road on the NPDES for those old
parts of DC that have a combined sewer/storm system and regularly dump
it all raw into the river when it rains a lot.
That is mostly upper North West the last time I looked.

'Tis best to stay out of the Anacostia. It's a shame it can't be dammed before it hits the Potomac.
