Default Help w/ Garmin 162

does anyone know....................

if it's possible to set a waypoint relative to my current position?

I want to set a waypoint x.y miles on a heading of ZZZ from my current
position. I don't care about my current lat/long nor my destination
lat/long. (at least not for this purpose)

Anyone know how to do that with a Garmin 162??????????????/

THANKS!

Greg

It might be in the mode of "project waypoint."
and it is a PIA in the G76 to use!

Greg,
I kinds of hate to tell you this, but the only way you can do any thing
at all like that on the newer Garmin is trial and error (or is it try
all and err?).

This is why I have no plan to change from my 48 for wind/leeward courses.

Even with a 48 and older or a copy of Garmin's belated software package
called PCX5, the best you could do was set a waypoint based on the
distance and bearing from another waypoint.

Good luck

Matt,

I was afraid of that.
But your last sentence makes me think...........
Its easy enough to set a waypoint at the current position.
How do I set a waypoint based on distance and bearing from there as your
last
line suggests?

Thanks for the feedback

Greg

Greg,
I think this might just work,
Set a waypoint at the current loctation,
then, use the measure function to strech the elastic band to where ever
and watch the range and bearing.
When it gets to 1 mile (or what ever) and the bearing you what,
then get it to mark a waypoint there.
I've never done this.
