![]() does anyone know.................... if it's possible to set a waypoint relative to my current position? I want to set a waypoint x.y miles on a heading of ZZZ from my current position. I don't care about my current lat/long nor my destination lat/long. (at least not for this purpose) Anyone know how to do that with a Garmin 162??????????????/ THANKS! Greg |

Greg,
I kinds of hate to tell you this, but the only way you can do any thing at all like that on the newer Garmin is trial and error (or is it try all and err?). This is why I have no plan to change from my 48 for wind/leeward courses. Even with a 48 and older or a copy of Garmin's belated software package called PCX5, the best you could do was set a waypoint based on the distance and bearing from another waypoint. Good luck Matt Colie Greg wrote: does anyone know.................... if it's possible to set a waypoint relative to my current position? Matt,
I was afraid of that. But your last sentence makes me think........... Its easy enough to set a waypoint at the current position. How do I set a waypoint based on distance and bearing from there as your last line suggests? Thanks for the feedback Greg "Matt Colie" wrote in message ... Greg,
I think this might just work, Set a waypoint at the current loctation, then, use the measure function to strech the elastic band to where ever and watch the range and bearing. When it gets to 1 mile (or what ever) and the bearing you what, then get it to mark a waypoint there. I've never done this. Matt Colie Greg wrote: Matt, I was afraid of that.
