I guess I'm due for an upgrade. My old XP box was built in 2003 and my LG fip phone is about shot.
Getting a Casio/Verizon Gz'One phone and a HP laptop with Windows 7. I hope it beats the two cans and string system I've used for years. |

I also have a slightly older HP laptop running Vista. Both the Windows 7 and Vista computers are of the 64K variety. The Vista is slow as pouring cold molasses to boot up but once it loads it runs fine and I've had no major problems. I also have a much older computer that runs XP. I fired it up the other day for kicks and realized that although XP was very popular and stable, Windows 7 blows it away. I think HP makes some decent computers. BTW ... I never shut either of them off. I always put them in "sleep" mode when not using them. The hard drive shuts off and it goes into a low power consuming mode, but the CPU and electronics are still powered. Been doing that since both were new. Old school electronics beliefs suggested that most component failures are the result of cold/hot, hot/cold thermal cycles. Most of the gear I worked on in the military was left on 100 percent of the time because of this. Old habits don't die easily. |

So how did the corn crop turn out this year? |

As to the phone, I don't know what one that is, but even an entry level smart phone is useful if you start to use the stuff on it... For me, mostly for shopping for parts, etc, and other navigation... Sometimes I use the camera too. |

One Verizon store has this phone sitting in the bottom of a fish aquarium. for a demonstration. They'll pull it out, turn it on and make a call with it.Want to see how tough it is? the sales girl took the phone and threw it up aqainst a wall, and I mean 'threw' it. Worked great. http://theunlockr.com/2013/09/19/cas...verizon-specs/ |

Probably comes with a bunch of trial ware stuff, but let your kids set you up with a few useful applications from the Google store, and you might get more than just a phone out of it, I do.... |

It's a great phone, and tough as it is advertised to be. -- Religion: together we can find the cure. |

My brothers in law could use a tough cellphone like that.
They are tough on their phones due to their construction work. |

So how did the corn crop turn out this year? Ours was very respectable Wayne. Even though planted later in the season, it varied from 140 to over 200+. In the average it was 171 bushel per acre but was a bit high on the moisture content at 19% There was a slight bit of dockage because of the high moisture, but the total yield was very nice for this area of Illinois, and the price was very good. No complaints! |
