Default What a coward..

So, the L'il coward doesn't mind revealing info and photos of properties he thinks belongs to other posters, but when he's exposed he runs crying to Google to have the image of his house smudged.
Very typical of cowardly cockroaches. I've certainly done my work here... I've exposed you to all for what you are.
What did your hero Bush say..."mission accomplished"...

Google might have blocked the shot of his house as a public service.
He's got crap, tree trash, coolers, lawn mowers, barbecue grills and
other crap all over his front lawn...it's a little bit of a West
Virginia hollow, right there in northeast Connecticut.

Strange in that neighborhood...garages with absolutely flat roofs.
Certainly the code wouldn't allow that because of the potential snow loads.

Flat roof can be code compliant.

On light residential frame construction in high snow load areas? Wow...

Sure, as long as it's designed for the load.

Thanks, didn't know that.

Kevin is an engineer.

Our house is built a bit better than the others in the neighborhood.
4x6s where the code calls for 4x4s, 48 inch overlap, where the code
called for 36 but my mom and dad built the house while building the rest
of the development so he did some extras on ours. I helped build the
addition as a youngster, the best feature is the elimination of the
front post on the garage. We took two 20 foot two by tens, and
sandwiched in a 1/4 inch by 10 inch, by 20 foot steel plate. I remember
taking the steel to the place to have the bolt holes punched in. Last
year when we had about 3 feet of show up there, it didn't even give an
inch....

What code "calls for 4x4's?" What is lapped 48 inches? That's called a
flitch beam, common. If the structure doesn't deflect, it's too brittle
and something will catastrophically break.
