Regardless, it is still a repugnant stereotype.

Funny how that Harry is so adamant about Christianity being just another
far-fetched fairy tale (to which I agree about it being) but doesn't
seem to say the same about Judaism.

All religions are "far-fetched" fairytales. I don't mention Jews, Sikhs,
Hindus, et cetera, very often because they don't seem very interested in
turning my country into a theocracy. If the Christians would just keep
their fairytales to themselves, and not try to shove their religion and
their strange beliefs down everyones' throats, I wouldn't pay any
attention to them, either. It makes no difference to me whether someone
worships a pet rock, the sun, or any other deity-like figure or
imaginary being.

Saying that Christians hate Jews is just as much of a sterotype as

More so and pretty inaccurate.

I don't know anyone who has a particular dislike of Jews and I know a
lot of bible thumping rednecks.

Harry said it, this was a 50s and perhaps early 60s thing, mostly
among Baptists.

The strange thing is every atheist I know has a Jewish, mixed with
Catholic heritage.
(Mom or Dad converted)

Perhaps it is the idea that you can give up your beliefs and adopt
another religion, simply for love, that makes you question the whole
thing.

I think I am a spiritual guy but I have no brand loyalty and I just
seek the best wisdom from all of them. I certainly do not condemn
anyone for what they believe as long as they don't want to make me
believe it,
In that regard Jews are not really "evangelical".
My daughter even thought she wanted to be Jewish for a while.
made her a Menorah and she fired up all of the candles on the first
day. ;-)

I knew it was tome for a little "shooling". I got one of my Jewish IBM
buddies to explain a lot of the rituals to her.

I have a friend who married into a Jewish family and converted. I've
been to several events (Bar mitzvahs, etc) and always had a great time,
enjoyed the company.

I grew up in a city and at a time when everyone loved the Jewish kids
because there were so many Jews in New Haven, the public schools closed
down on the Jewish High Holidays. The two biggest
cultural/religious/educational/political groups at that time in my
hometown were Jews and Roman Catholics. Easy to figure out why: the city
was a magnet for European immigrants in the late 19th and first half of
the 20th Century because of its industrial economy.

I do think Harry is a bit disingenuous when you see the hateful things
he characterizes all christians as being and then gets offended when
someone implies jews are good businessmen.

I don't characterize "all" Christians as being anything, other than,
like believers in other religions, believers in superstition.

Compared to Baptists and Catholics, the Jewish events are a real hoot.
I enjoy the friendship and good times they have. I was always
accepted, even tho I was Golem.
There is nothing more fun that a good old Jewish wedding. (bear in
mind these are "reform")

You may be a goy, the singular, and part of the "tribe" of goyim, the
plural, but you were never a golem, which is a Yiddish term for an
artificial human form brought to life by supernatural means.

The public schools in my home town closed on the Jewish high holidays.
Everyone knew some Yiddism.

It is not shocking since the church was the government in most of the
world until fairly recently.
The only real competition before the renaissance was the Romans

Wow.. I thought you guys would better understand this being all worldly
and stuff.... Look up the laws governing banking and the church, it had
to do with lending money or borrowing money and church members. This as
frowned upon and not allowed. So anyway, Jews were used as
intermediaries, kind of like banks and they made the decisions of who to
lend to etc. That's how the whole stereotype of Jews being pricks with
money got started... or at least a good part of it...

Every time you spew this nonsense I have to giggle. When was the
last time some Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist or atheist for that
matter try to "shove" their religion and strange beliefs down your
throat ?

I've never had a Muslim, Buddhist, or Jew try to shove their religious
beliefs down my throat either directly or through legislative action.
Christians try it and do it all the time.

Black people

Ask Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, Rev Wright.

Cite?

Do they get news in that bubble you live in.

"Hymietown" (Jackson)
"the diamond merchants in Crown Heights," (Sharpton)
"Them Jews aren?t going to let him talk to me." (Wright)

You can certainly google up plenty more but those are the top hits.

Oh, got it! In your narrow mind, it's only blacks......
