My comment was that I had never seen coyotes in our yard or in our
neighborhood. Let me know when you have a cite that disputes that.
Otherwise, learn to read for content.

That is what intrigues me! They are all over the place, and specifically
in Calvert county but they somehow have learned to avoid your
neighborhood! I'd really like to know how you managed that! Especially
when you've stated that you have in your yard things that they love to
hunt and eat....

If they "are all over the place," then there would be lots of sightings.
I know lots of people in this county, and none of them has ever
mentioned seeing a coyote.

The land area here is 200+ square miles, not huge, but sizeable. The
sites you provided do not indicate a large population of coyotes.

Actually, they do.

That first site you listed showed a 43 pound animal that had just been
shot to death by some moron. The article didn't say why the guy shot the
animal. What a brave white hunter he is, eh?

Has nothing to do with this.

The last site shows an animal in a field in an adjoining county. The
animal looks more like the large foxes we have around here than a
coyote, but the photo isn't sharp enough to tell for sure.

Bull****!!!!!

I think you are once again leaping to unsupportable conclusions from a
paucity of facts. No one is denying we have some larger wild mammals in
Maryland, and I am sure there are some coyotes and wolves. But we
haven't seen any here, and we are prepared to see them, what with time
spent outdoors, being surrounded by wooded areas that hold a panoply of
critters, and outdoor cameras and lights.

There are coyotes in your hood. Just because you don't see them doesn't
mean they aren't there. Wasn't long ago you never heard of coyotes east
of the Mississippi.

I wouldn't mind catching and taming a coyote cub. They're pretty animals
and can be trained like dogs.
