Sailin 'n paintball
Although I like to sail, sailboat racing strikes me as fairly silly,
dunno why, it just does. However, my son has gotten interested in paintball so maybe we can combine the two....... We invent a game called "Blockade Runner". One boat is the Blockade Runner evading the hated yankees to get into Savannah and the rest are the Union navy tryin to catch him. They all have paint ball guns. Just as in real naval battles, raking fire would be deadly. Blockade runner tries to get into the channel and gets points for how close he gets. |

Why not use mounted guns, port & starboard, (maybe a "chaser" in the bow too) and count hits to the mast and below the waterline (assuming the boat is heeled over) as "disabling" ....... sounds fun!! Now.... to make a paint-ball cannon and grapeshot....... |

Now.... to make a paint-ball
cannon and grapeshot Just a "spud gun" loaded with a coffee cup full of paint balls, maybe some wadding. Sort of 21st century "cannister" shot. |

There's a "race" here called the North Shore News Race. It's only a race due to the fact that there is a starting line and a finish line. One year, we were the "Fine Young Cannabals", dressed in grass skirts and painted face, fake grass on the cabin, skulls on poles surrounding the cockpit, etc. And we had a blowgun that shot grapes. One of the crew got pretty good at hitting The Enemy at as much as 50ft away. (we finished 16th out of 100). Then there's the Vikings "sailpast" - which is basically a 2-hr long waterfight while a dozen or so dinghies manoever to try to get champagne from the flagship. Amazingly, we've never had a major mishap. Lloyd Sumpter "Far Cove" Catalina 36 |

Option to use real (live) ammo against any PWC.
