We'd initially planned to stop at Charleston on the way back and catch the fireworks. But, that must

be a popular 4 July destination, 'cause all the campgrounds were full. We started looking about the

It's popular all the time. Great food, lots of history, just a very cool city. It's only 1.5 hours for us, we go down several times a year. The Market Pavilion Hotel is very nice, and if you just have to eat something other than seafood Grill 225 in the lobby is a killer steak place.

I think a couple weeks to see Myrtle Beach and Charleston might be some fun. I'll make mention if we

do it next year (this year's full) and try to solicit some tips. I'm really into all-you-can-eat

seafood places!

Myrtle Beach has a ton of golf courses and is OK, but is a huge tourist trap. For a good beach experience Hilton Head is great, and if you're into a quiet, family beach Edisto Island is good. There's a nice course at Edisto, and Charleston is about an hour away. Charleston to Myrtle Beach is about 2 hours.

If you decide to do it let me know and I'll be happy to help. Might even drive down for a day to play a round!

Pawley's Island was nice when I went there about 15 years ago. Is it

still away from the crowds of Myrtle?

The sprawl has gotten closer, but it's still out far enough it's not bad. Seems that most of the expansion has been north of MB, not as much south.
