Since they installed "pay at the pump" for gas, I go into one of those

The last time was looking for "Mexican Coke" several years ago but
they have that everywhere now (Publix, Costco etc)

We go in all the time. Good friends with the owner, milk and bread is
the same price as parking a mile away, walking into a Stop and Shop
designed only to was as much time as possible as you work your way to
the very furthest corner to get a gallon of milk, then stand there
waiting for some idiot to make the self checkout work.... Gatoraide is 2
for 3 dollars, we grab at least two a day when we get our gas. Not to
mention, gas is cheaper if you go in and pay cash....

Down here Publix is giving the shop and rob businesses a real run for
the money. You can get in and out pretty fast, the milk is fresher and
they have a full deli where you can get a fresh sandwich and drink for
less than the gas station places.

Publix here is slow as slow can be at the deli, but they are good
sandwiches.

The places with tiered gas prices usually give you the cash price for
a debit transaction.
I am not really "on the road" that much anyway. If I am going very far
(anywhere out of Florida) I fly

Didn't know they had that anymore, they sure don't around here. Never
checked when traveling. For business my threshold whether to fly or
drive is if I can drive it in five hours or less. Can't hardly fly
ANYWHERE in less time than that.

The places where we vacation are far more likely to have a mom and pop
general store/gas station than any chain convenience outlet.

Some of the mom and pops have fantastic food, some have mediocre and
some are roach infested pig pens.
