It was old school fast food, nothing but a grille and a counter in a
little green roof building.
There was one next to the cut through in the 1700 block of Pa ave to G
street. I went by there every morning on my way to school and I
usually grabbed a burger or two.

There's a place in New Haven that's like that. Been there for
generations, more than 100 years, actually, called Louis Lunch.

That is a lot nicer than a Little Tavern. They were all white and
green tile with a counter and not much else in a couple hundred square
foot nook of a building.,

I am sort of fond of Crystals in Florida, tiny but tasty burgers.

I eat a Whopper at BK occasionally but that is usually the only fast
food I will eat.
All Burger Kings are not created equally tho. For some reason, some
make a better whopper than others.
I also have a pretty good eye for spotting the "dirty" ones. I spent a
lot of time behind those counters and some I would not even drink the
coffee from.
We had one particular Wendy's here we called the roach motel. I
wouldn't even let the guys bring used parts from there into the
office. I told them " Leave the old part in the dumpster and I will
fix the paperwork for the return".

I don't like the burger joints much. Around here, decent hot "fast" food
and freshly packed sandwiches, salads and fruit are available from a
chain operation called WaWa. Big, clean, well-lit stores with lots of
employees, good gasoline prices, nice food. They're putting local 7-11's
out of business. I saw a poster in a store recently that indicated the
chain was planning to open several stores in central Florida.

Around these parts, we have Quick Trip, or QT for short. Same concept,
nice clean well lit stores. They all do a huge business!

Since they installed "pay at the pump" for gas, I go into one of those
"shop and rob" places less than once a year.
The last time was looking for "Mexican Coke" several years ago but
they have that everywhere now (Publix, Costco etc)

When traveling by car alone, I can hit one, fill up with gas, go in and
take a ****, get a hot dog for a dollar and get back on the road in a
matter of minutes. From the old days of long haul trucking, it's the
stopping that kills your mileage.
