Following several declined invites to join me at the firing range
Mrs.E. finally got up the courage to go. I told her she didn't have to shoot if she didn't want to, but it would be good for her to see how the range was managed, how safe it was plus it features many other activities and areas not directly related to guns. I purposely brought a box of those low powered, sub-sonic .22LR rounds just in case she decided to try the Ruger single 10 revolver that she likes the "looks" of. Those rounds are no louder than a cap gun going off. You can't use them in a pistol because they don't have enough power to force the slide back and eject the expended shell. I figured they would be a good introduction to shooting if she decided to try it because she had never fired a handgun or a rifle in her life. Long story short .... By the time we left she had pretty much used up all the 380, 38 special and 357 Magnum ammo that I had brought that day. She tried every gun I had several times. By the way, the theory that women are better natural shots than guys was supported by her shooting. Something about them having hips and a lower center of gravity makes for a more stable stance. She had several bull's eyes at 25 yards with the 357 Magnum. |

Bullseye eh? |

She's wanting to try the Kimber .45 and the Sig P250 9mm. She thinks that P250 is just her size. We'll see how it goes. As to accuracy, the target she brought home last time had every round in the 'kill zone'! I won't discuss the center of gravity issue. I've not got near the courage you do. It's why a woman can stand with her back flat against a wall, then bend over and pick up a chair without falling forward. A guy can't do that. Well, at least historically we can't. Maybe some of the modern hybrids are different. |

Maybe some of the modern hybrids are different. We got back from the range a bit ago. Great time. She loves the P250, which she'd never fired before. The DAO feature requires a longer pull, but the pull is easy and constant. She was not wild about the .45. But, I like that Kimber. What a sweet shooting pistol. Much, much better than the ..45's I was used to in the Army. Bad news was that place would sell us no .45 or 9mm ammo unless we rented a gun from them ($10). We didn't have to use it in the rented gun, so basically it just added $10 to the cost of a box. A box of 50 .45's would cost $32 plus the $10. I 'spect I'll have to keep checking WalMart every now and then. John H. -- Hope you're having a great day! |

My first wife was a crack shot with a slingshot. We used to be way into them. We shot 457 iirc caliber lead balls, she could take a baseball at 50 yards. I could do it with a lineup shot or two first usually... Jessica is crack with a rifle but never fired a pistol yet. |
